Piquante Palais: Grand opening

Date published: 12 September 2013

Piquante Palais was officially opened this afternoon (Thursday 12 September) by Mayor Councillor Peter Rush. The official opening was marked with a dinner attended by Rochdale dignitaries.

Mayor Rush said: “This is absolutely brilliant. I knew this place fifty years ago and it fitted the people of Rochdale in that era and I think this will do the same for this era. The non alcohol plan is a great idea and will hopefully build great relations in Rochdale.”

Piquante Palais is an authentic French, Italian and Indian restaurant. Councillor Colin Lambert, who attended the opening, said: “This is an interesting and exciting new food venture for Rochdale.”

Finance Portfolio Holder Councillor Farooq Ahmed, former Mayor of Rochdale Jim Gartside, Town Centre Manager Debbie O’Brien and members of staff from Rochdale Council also attended the opening.

Guests were treated to a three course meal, which included a soup starter, curry and rice with a side of chicken and potatoes for the main and ice cream and profiteroles for dessert all accompanied by an after dinner mocktail.

Director of the restaurant, Fahim Chowdhury, said: “Everything is going well. We are starting to see regulars returning now which is good.”

Fahim added: “I think this is something that Rochdale is missing.”

Piquante Palais is located on Yorkshire Street opposite Halifax Bank.
