Nominations sought for Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen Award

Date published: 10 February 2014

Nominations for the Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year awards from the Middleton community are being invited by The Rotary Club of Middleton.

The club is looking to recognise people from the local community whose efforts add to the lives of others at their Young Citizen and Citizen of the Year Awards which will be held at a gala evening in June 2014.

Lee Wolf, Rotary Community Service Committee chairman, said: “We are looking for people who enjoy going the extra mile in helping others in their community. We welcome nomination forms from employers, friends, neighbours or employees. We know people do not receive the recognition they should for the work they do. This event is a great opportunity to rectify that situation.”

Sue Furby, Rotary Youth and Vocational Committee chairwoman, said: “The award is open to young people aged between 6-18 years old involved in charity work, young carers or those who have gone above and beyond in their service to others. I want to encourage teachers, coaches, club leaders, neighbours, friends as well as parents and guardians to take the time to complete a nomination form.”

Nomination forms are available from the Rotary Club of Middleton:

Or send a self-addressed envelope to The Rotary Club of Middleton YVPC 5 Broche Close, Marland, Rochdale OL11 3LT.

The closing date for nominations is 31 March, 2014.
