Date published: 02 April 2014
A lorry caught fire yesterday (Tuesday 1 April) on the M62, Westbound, J21 at Milnrow.
Fire crews from Rochdale and Heywood were called to the vehicle which was on the hard shoulder between J21 Milnrow and Junction 20 Thornham Island at around 4:40pm.
It is understood that an electrical fault caused the fire with 100% of the lorry receiving damage. Fire fighters were able to tackle the fire by using a hose and breathing apparatus.
No injuries occurred as a result of the fire.
Two lanes of the M62 were closed at the time as smoke from the fire was blowing across the road.
