Lowerplace Primary School blog nominated for favourite UK educational blog

Date published: 08 April 2014

A blog produced by the staff and students of Class 4a at Lowerplace Primary School has been nominated for favourite UK educational blog.

The blog, which can be found on the school's website, showcases work from the class from a variety of subjects and units and has contributions on it from students and teacher Ben Hall.

Ben said: “It is a good place to showcase the children’s work. We upload a variety of things to the blog and the students can upload things at home as well.”

Lowerplace was nominated for best educational blog after website UKedchat asked people to send in their favourite education based blogs. The website is now compiling a list of the best 100 educational blogs to feature in their magazine.

Blogging is something that the school has been involved in for the past three years with each class having their own dedicated blog. The Class 4a blog that has been nominated started at the beginning of the academic year.

“We are absolutely delighted to be nominated. The blog is something that we put a lot of hard work into and it really does engage the children with writing and helps them to improve their writing and standards of writing,” said Ben.

Parveen Earl, Headteacher at Lowerplace said: “We are passionate about raising standards and the blog is a good way to engage children with writing. It is something we are committed to doing at Lowerplace.”

Voting to decide on the best educational blog is now down to the general public with voting closing at midnight tomorrow (Wednesday 9 April).

Ben added: “It would be fantastic if we were to win. The blog is something that we are dedicated to doing and is something that we put a lot of work into.”

No matter what the result of the competition, the school will continue to with the blog. “Blogging is something we will continue to do now no matter what,” said Ben.
