Schoolgirls approached by man making sexual comment
Date published: 11 April 2014
A man approached two 12-year-old girls in Heywood and made a sexual comment.
At around 2.20pm on Sunday 6 April 2014, a man in his 40s walked up to the girls who were waiting by a bus stop on Manchester Road, Heywood.
He made a sexual comment before both girls ran off.
The offender is described as being white, 5ft 7in tall, of medium build, had patchy facial hair, brown teeth, wore a black Manchester United hooded jacket, jeans and black trainers.
Detective Constable Michael Berger from the Middleton Integrated Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “From what we have been told, we believe this man had been hanging around the bus stop minutes before he approached the girls.
“Although he has not physically assaulted them, he has made a sexual remark that has frightened them. Thankfully, they had the presence of mind to run away and alert someone.”
“If you believe you recognise this man or may have been approached by him yourself, I would ask you to contact police.”
Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 8701 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
