Day of Action in Spotland and Falinge

Date published: 11 April 2014

A Day of Action clamping down on crime and interacting with residents in Spotland and Falinge is taking place today (Friday 11 April) and tomorrow.

Teams from the council, police, housing associations and community volunteer groups, will be present in the area.

Police and Community Safety Officers will also be talking to residents to gather intelligence on issues that concern them and providing practical security and safety advice.

Safe plating will on offer at the Police Outpost at Abbydale Falinge and Lidl between 11am and 3pm on Friday.

All ward Neighbourhood Beat Officers will be available at the same location between 10am and 3pm, where members of the public can discuss any issues and to encourage people to sign up to Home Watch.

Police Community Support Officers will be on high visible patrol to remove untaxed vehicles and visit vulnerable and elderly residents, while Rochdale Borough Housing Officers will be on the Falinge Estate on Friday carrying out a series of walkabouts to address any housing issues affecting tenants.

Council officers will be linking into the door knocking and walkabouts to help address issues that are concerning residents, while there will also be a strong focus on public engagement and reassurance, with partner agencies knocking on doors to encourage residents to complete the Safer Communities questionnaire.

Environmental Management and Housing Officers will be attending on behalf of the Council, and The Youth Services’ ‘Where It’s At’ bus, containing activities for young people, will be parked at the Community Campus on Entwistle Road.
