RMBC not dropping Metropolitan from name
Date published: 18 April 2014
Concern that Rochdale Council is dropping ‘Metropolitan’ from the Council's name and unfoinded and the borough is still officially called Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council.
Concerns were raised by members of the public after information leaflets for the Sam Bamford Trail appeared using a council logo without metropolitan in the name.
A spokesperson for Rochdale Borough Council said: “The full name of the organisation - Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council - hasn’t changed and we use this in reports and legal documents. Local residents mostly refer to us as Rochdale Borough Council or even just Rochdale Council. Not using Metropolitan in our logo makes it a little simpler and easier to read.”
