Wardle music groups through to Music For Youth National Festival
In March, several musical groups from Wardle Academy and our partner primary schools took part in the Regional Music for Youth Festival.
This month the Folk Group, conducted by Cliff Woodworth; Wind Band, conducted by Jane Conway and the Youth Band and Smithy Bridge Primary Brass Band, both conducted by Lee Rigg, were delighted to be told they have made it through to the National Festival at Birmingham Symphony Hall.
Mrs Janet Emsley, Director of Performing Arts, said: “We are incredibly proud that three of our groups and one of our primary partners have been invited to the National Festival. This is a fantastic achievement and testimony to the hard work of all involved.”
Three other groups, all conducted by Wardle Academy, have been invited to participate in the Fringe Festival at the National Festival in Birmingham.
The Choir, St Andrew’s Brass Band and Littleborough Brass Band will perform in the Festival Tent, have the opportunity to participate in workshops and receive free tickets for the performances in the Symphony Hall.
