Catherine Lynch, 17, from Rochdale, Chloe Helm, 17, from Heywood and Chanelle Catlow, 16, from Rochdale were asked to act as photographers at Wednesday night’s Mayor-making event at Rochdale Town Hall as the incoming Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Carol Wardle being sworn in.

The three first year students are studying for an Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and had shown a particular interest in photography.

Media student Catherine Lynch said: “With the logistics of working with such a large of group of people, and with such time restraints, I found it a very challenging, yet very rewarding experience. “

The girls’ brief was to take photographs of the guests arriving at the event, then chose the best images and print them so that when the guests left the event they could buy the images as a memento of the evening.

The proceeds to go to Springhill Hospital, The Moorlands Children’s Home and Heywood Youth Link.

Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Carol Wardle was delighted and said: “A huge thank you to you and the students. Everyone has commented on the superb quality of the photographs.

"It was an absolutely sterling effort from them all, and they carried it all out with lovely smiles and a real air of professionalism.

"We raised the magnificent sum of £200 for my charities, which is an excellent start to my mayoral year.

"Once again, sincere and grateful thanks to the whole team.”
