Coffee & Cake Fundraiser was a sweet success!
A local Guide Unit has raised £250 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust by holding a Coffee & Cake Fundraiser at one of their recent meetings.
Members of 32nd Rochdale Guides are spending this term tackling The Big Brownie Birthday Challenge – a specially created programme of activities to celebrate 100 years of Brownies – a challenge that enables them to make their own decisions, learn new skills and have fun.
The Guides, aged 10-14 years, chose to hold a Coffee & Cake Fundraising evening in aid of a charity. Earlier in the year the group had nominated a number of charities that they would like to support, and from these the Cystic Fibrosis Trust was chosen as the beneficiary for this event due to one of the Guides having the condition.
Guide Leader, Diane Foster said: “The event was a huge success – we were amazed by the amount of people who turned up. The Guides had been very busy baking for the event, and it was great that their family and friends came along to support it.”
Cystic Fibrosis is a life-threatening inherited disease which affects over 9000 people in the UK. It causes the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system to become clogged with sticky mucus, resulting in chronic infections and inflammation in the lungs and difficulty digesting food.
The money raised from this event will go towards the Cystic Fibrosis Trust’s work in research, campaigning, support and care for those with the condition.
