Siddal Moor students and staff set reach the summit of Pendle Hill
Once again, on Saturday the 14 June 2014 a group of 16 Siddal Moor students and 9 staff set off on the challenge to reach the summit of Pendle Hill in aid of this year’s school charity “Francis House”.
The charity is one which is close to the schools heart, as a student who attended the school unfortunately passed away suddenly this academic year. The school has raised money for the charity throughout the year by selling wrist bands, highlighter pens and donating a portion of the “Children in Need” money raised, to the charity.
Steve Walmsley, Redgrave House Co-ordinator and Organiser could not praise the students and staff enough for their efforts. Along with a few girls that “had never walked that far in their lives” everyone managed to reach the top in just less than 2 hours and 30 minutes.
On reaching the bottom, students and staff tucked into bacon butties and ice cream. Furthermore Mr Walmsley added that many students who took part wanted to put their name down for the event in 2015!
Mr Walmsley would like to thank all the students and staff that attended on the day and a special thank you to all the people who sponsored this event. The final total of money raised for the event is hoped to be in excess of £500.00.
