Under Secretary of State visits Redwood School

Date published: 03 July 2014

Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families Ed Timpson visited Redwood Secondary School on Wednesday 2 July, where he was invited to sample the inclusive sporting opportunities that are provided to all students.

The Minister enjoyed a tour of the school, met student leaders and joined the Chairwoman of Governors, Marion Sherriff, in observing hydrotherapy activities, a swimming lesson, a rebound therapy session and a trampolining demonstration.

Headteacher Stuart Pidgeon said: “This visit highlights the key role Redwood has locally and nationally in Project Ability, Health and Well Being plans and other key initiatives.”

The arrival of Ed Timpson came one day after Redwood was invited to attend the media launch of the International Inspiration programme review in London, presented by Lord Coe.

The programme has seen Redwood link collaboratively with a school in Alexandria Egypt, leading to Mr Pidgeon being the only Headteacher in the UK to be invited to attend the launch.
