Joanna Rowsell at Spotland Primary

Date published: 04 July 2014

On Monday 30 June, Joanna Rowsell MBE came to Spotland School.

Joanna is on the Great Britain Cycling Team and competes on track and road.

Joanna talked to the children about her cycling career and everyone was very impressed with her gold medal.

Joanna won her medal at the London Olympic Games in 2012 in the Team Pursuit race.

The children in the Spotland School Cycle Team had their picture taken with Joanna and got a close look at the gold medal.

Some of the Year 6 children gave interviews to the ITV and BBC television news reporters.

Two local radio stations also interviewed the children. The reports appeared on the evening news.
