Drake Street
Plans to reinstate a bus stop on Drake Street are on track with work set to start as soon as possible.
Rochdale Council has received the last pieces of information from Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) needed for the proposal.
Once formal approval for the plans to proceed has been given by leader of the council, Councillor Richard Farnell, a formal request will be sent to finance for the funding to be put in place with work commencing immediately.
The time scale for the delivery of the bus stop is around 12 months depending on the number of objections received. If there are no objections then the time scale could be reduced.
Shelly Buxton, who has helped to lead the campaign for the bus stop, said: “We are pleased with this outcome. I think it is fantastic that this is making progress. We have been battling with this since February. We presented a 400 signature petition which was made up of signatures from members of the public, traders and bus drivers and we are pleased to see this now going ahead.”
