Young entrepreneurs are stepping up their bid to get a fair deal for farmers in the developing world - and boost their own job prospects.
Not Just a Little Business is a social enterprise set up by RBH to teach youngsters valuable business skills.
The group sell Fair Trade products including tea, coffee, rice and chocolate at special markets across Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire.
All profits are used to fund their activities and provide training to boost the young people’s employment skills.
Now the group is looking to build on their success by expanding the operation and launching their own brand.
They will be approaching local companies and organisations asking them to buy products for their staff and customers. In return they will receive a special certificate to highlight their support of Fair Trade and the local community.
Zenab Ali, 15, from Lower Falinge, said: “Being part of Not Just a Little Business has been a great experience which has really boosted my confidence and shown me the value of working as a member of a team.
“It’s also great that we are able to help farmers in the developing world support themselves and their families and so we really want to expand to help both ourselves and others.”
Khalida Crossley, RBH Community Action Worker, said: “The youngsters have shown great initiative and determination in getting their business up and running.
“They have already gained a lot from it but, with the support of other local businesses, they can gain more skills and lay the foundations for successful careers.”
