The North West Area Brass Bands Association is bringing brass band contesting back to Rochdale Town Hall after 14 years.
The contest, entitled ‘NWABBA Rochdale Open Championships', will mirror the annual and successful Buxton Festival Brass Band Contest and will fill a gap in the calendar that was left by the demise of the old Rochdale contest.
The event was last held in Rochdale in 2003 when it was held at Wardle High School after moving from Rochdale Town Hall in
2000/2001.
Taking place on Sunday 26 October, the event promises to be a full day’s music with, at the moment, 29 bands entered from both the North West and Yorkshire areas.
