Great success for Wardle Academy’s aspiring athletes
Wardle Academy had great success at this year’s Rochdale Schools Cross Country Event in which the competitors had to run at two separate events based at Fallinge Park High School.
The first event got off to a great start with the weather staying dry and Wardle Academy getting some top finishers setting them up for a good chance of individual medals as well as some team victories.
The athletes were not as lucky with the second event as the rain and wind battered the course making running more difficult but the competitors from Wardle were aware that a good run would secure some medals and trophies for school.
Wardle Academy certainly delivered:
- Three team winners: Year 7 boys, the Year 8 boys and the Year 9 girls;
- One gold medal winner - Jessica Bull;
- Four silver medal winners – Emma Blair, Lewis Crossley-Cummings, Jacob Godsman-Pilling, Ella Cleg
- Four bronze medal winners - Harrison Lancaster, Ellie Eastwood, Charlie Godsman and Bethany Roscoe.
Well done to everyone who took part!
