Simon Danczuk subject of an inquiry by the Parliamentary Commissioner‏ for Standards

Date published: 05 November 2014

Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk is the subject of an inquiry by the Parliamentary Commissioner‏ for Standards for what we understand is an allegation that he has failed to declare the fees he received for the serialisation of his book on Cyril Smith from the Daily Mail in the register of MPs' financial interests.

In a statement released this evening, Mr Danczuk says he has declared the fees: "I have received serialisation fees from DMGT plc [the owners of the Daily Mail] and this has been duly declared."

We understand that Mr Danczuk made the declaration today.

Mr Danczuk has also been challenged a number of times locally about whether he has donated any of the fee he received to charity and he says he has: "I have made donations to a number of charities since receiving this fee."
