Hundreds of people from Wardle gathered today (Sunday 9 November) to take part in the annual remembrance parade and service.

Gathering at Wardle Village Church, the parade made its way through the village and to the war memorial.

Led by Wardle Academy Band, the parade included members of the local scouts, beavers and rainbows as well as local councillors and Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk.

Once at the memorial, the service was led by The Reverend Sharon Jones.

Hymns included:

God, Our Help In Ages Past
The Day Thou Gavest, Lord, Is ended
The National Anthem.

The Last Post was played and a two minute silence observed.

Wreaths were then laid by dignitaries and local councillors before the parade headed back through the village.

Milnrow

Residents of Milnrow gathered at Milnrow Library on Newhey Road and marched to Milnrow Cenotaph for a Remembrance Service before returning to Milnrow Library.

Amongst those leading the parade was Councillor Allen Brett.

Balderstone

Simon Danczuk MP and local Balderstone and Kingsway councillors attended a special wreath laying ceremony at Balderstone War Memorial at Oldham Road today in honour of local servicemen killed in two world wars.
