Steve Rumbelow, Rochdale Borough Council's new Chief Executive, starts work in Rochdale on 15 December after Burnley Council agreed to allow him leave without serving his full three months notice.
Speaking to Rochdale Online, Mr Rumbelow said: “I am grateful to the Leader of the Council in Burnley for agreeing an early release date – whilst I have been spending time in Rochdale over the last few weeks, it will be good to actually take up post.
"I am very much looking forward to getting stuck into helping the Council’s political Leadership shape a better future for Rochdale. There are many challenges ahead but there are also real opportunities to be grasped – I am relishing the opportunity to get to grips with both.”
Mr Rumbelow was Chief Executive at Burnley Borough Council since July 2006. Previously a Strategic Director for Manchester City Council, with responsibility for housing strategy and regeneration, he has worked in local government for 30 years.
