Students annual Christmas market

Date published: 06 December 2014

Students at Hopwood Hall College got into the Christmas spirit this week, when they held the College’s annual Christmas market.

The market, which was organised by students on the Skills for Life programme, included stalls selling festive food such as glazed window biscuits, Christmas tree buns, mince pies, decorated chocolate cupcakes, turkey muffins and mulled apple juice.

There were also lots of other Christmas gifts on offer, such as hot chocolate mugs, Christmas baking kits, Christmas cards and calendars. And if that wasn’t festive enough, students Tom Winstanley, 18, and Alethea Petrides, 19, both from Middleton, entertained visitors by singing lots of Christmas songs.

The market was popular with staff and students alike, who popped by to enjoy the Christmas market. Fun was had by all and there were many comments about how great the event and the atmosphere at the market was.

Mandy Fletcher, student support tutor at the College said: “The students gain valuable real life working experience in planning and running the market and their hard work certainly paid off as the market was a huge success! Everyone really enjoyed getting into the festive spirit.”
