End of Term Report

In last week’s newsletter I told you about the progress report for children in year groups Y1to Y6.

In previous years this has been sent out prior to the Christmas holiday and I suggested that this year this routine would be the same.

However, because of the introduction of the new National Curriculum, the way that attainment and progress is measured is still uncertain.
Schools have been instructed to no longer use ‘levels’, on which we have relied in recent years and to devise their own systems instead.

I do not feel that any attempt tat this stage of the school year that we would be able to report appropriately to parents the stage at which their child is working, and certainly not progress, as the system is new.

Therefore I am postponing the report until around the mid-school year point, near to the February holiday, when teachers will provide a progress report, about attainment and progress, behaviour and effort, attendance and punctuality.

I will also provide more information about the New Curriculum and how we intend to assess it.

Expect, therefore a mid-year report and an end of year report in July.

Bad Weather

Please could we ask that parents, carers and children take extra care when walking across the playground in the bad weather. It is not possible to grit the whole playground, so pathways are created. If a path is marked out please use it - for your and the children’s safety, do not walk on the snow or ice if there is any – Thank you.
