Melissa Timperley, from Wardle, has been crowned Umberto Giannini Project X 2014 Student of the Year after beating off some of the UK’s best hairstylists.
Melissa, a stylist with the Sassoon salon in Manchester, said: “I am delighted to have won the award as it was assessed on 12 months of practical work covering the range of skills required by a top hairdresser, including catwalk show styling, creative hair, wig cutting, fashion photography, teaching and presenting.”
The former Wardle High School Head Girl received her award from Errol Douglas MBE, President of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing, during a glittering ceremony at the famous Dorchester Hotel in London.
