Lowerplace Primary School has been described as “exceptionally effective” by David Laws MP, the Minister of State for Schools.
Mr Laws wrote to the school at the start of January to congratulate them on the excellent performance of pupils in the 2014 national Key Stage 2 tests.
In his letter, Mr Laws said: “Your results show that you are amongst the 100 top performing schools in terms of the progress your pupils make between key stage 1 and the end of Key Stage 2. Your school is exceptionally effective in educating its pupils.”
Speaking about receiving the letter, Headteacher Parveen Earl said: “The recognition is great and is a testament to the hard work put in by all of the staff. We are an outstanding school so this just shows that we don’t just sit back, we continue with the hard work that we put in.”
Located on Kingsway, Rochdale, Lowerplace Primary has also received praise from Gail Hopper, the Director of Children’s Service at Rochdale Council.
Mrs Earl added: “We will continue to work hard and give our students what they need.”
