Speculation that Argos will be the latest retailer to leave the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre remains unconfirmed following a response to the question by Argos.
Rumour has been circulating throughout the town that with the store's lease up for renewal, the retailer is planning to leave.
When asked by Rochdale Online a spokesperson for Argos said: “We don’t comment on speculation." But then added a somewhat ambiguous comment: "We remain committed to the Rochdale area.”
Argos currently has two stores in Rochdale, one in the Wheatsheaf Centre and a second at Central Retail Park, Richard Street, hence it is possible to remain committed to the Rochdale area whilst leaving the Wheatsheaf.
