A grant from the Greggs Foundation will enable Smallbridge residents to improve their job skills with an IT course.
The bakers made the donation to Smallbridge Tenants and Residents Association (STARA) through Greggs Foundation which supports local communities around the country.
STARA now plan to lay on a 12-week digital training course to help local people in their bid to find employment opportunities.
Mandy Cryer, Chairwoman of STARA, said: “We are very grateful to Greggs Foundation for supporting our neighbourhood with this grant.
“IT skills can greatly increase your chances of finding a job so we’re delighted that we’ll be able to run an IT course specifically for people seeking work.”
David Carnaffan, Grants Manager at Greggs Foundation, said: “Greggs Foundation aims to make a difference in the local communities served by Greggs through grants to help people get on with their lives. In STARA we could see a well managed organisation, with the knowledge and skills to make a difference and a great idea to support our local community.”
