Man arrested in connection with an investigation into historic sexual offences in Middleton

A man has been arrested in connection with an investigation into historic sexual offences in Middleton.
This relates to officers speaking to a woman on 16 February 2015 regarding historic sexual abuse.
The offences took place in the Middleton area between 1989 and 1995. The victim was between six and 12 years old at the time.
Specially trained officers are continuing to provide support and advice to the victim.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in police custody for questioning.
DI Caroline Ward said: "We work hard to support victims of sexual offences and thoroughly investigate all reports of sexual abuse and rape no matter how long ago they happened. We will do everything we can to support victims and bring offenders to justice."

The 36-year-old man has been released on bail until 30 April.
