Hollingworth Indoor Rowing Success at the Greater Manchester Championships

On Wednesday 11 February 2015, 40 rowers from Hollingworth represented Rochdale in the Greater Manchester Championships held at Robin Park Arena in Wigan.

It was a great championship with Hollingworth achieving their best set of results to date. In the team relay races Hollingworth achieved eight gold medals out of the ten races, one silver and one bronze. Every rower gained a medal in the relay races which is amazing.

In the individual events three gold medals were achieved by Charles Holmes (Year 7), Harry Proctor (Year 8) and Hannah Barlow (Year 8).

Five silver medals were achieved by Sarah Catherall (Year 7), Grace Lewis (Year 9), Elise Greenhalgh (Year 10), Callum Taylor (Year 10) and Leanne Glynn (Year 11).

Seven bronze medals were achieved by Isabelle Labas (Year 7), Charlie Sutcliffe (Year 7), Sally Tisdall (Year 9), Nathan Sykes (Year 9), Chloe Greenwood (Year 10), Brandon Morris (Year 10) and Pippa Ellis (Year 11). A super achievement, with the pupils’ hard work and commitment to training being rewarded.

Year 9 Geography Pupils

Year 9 Geography pupils have been learning about conflict in the Middle East and some have written letters to our local MP to ask for international aid money to be spent in this area as part of the ’Forgotten 10 Challenge’.

We held a Bake Sale to raise money for ‘Handicap International’. The money goes towards providing ‘risk education’ to prevent deaths and disabilities, clearing land of land mines and cluster bombs and supporting the victims of conflict through rehabilitation and providing artificial limbs. The pupils managed to raise a total of £100.87. Well done.

Disneyland Paris

The Disney trip was very successful. The pupils got a lot from the Maths they had at Disney and enjoyed themselves.
