Crime Prevention- Property Marking

Marking your property is a quick and effective way of protecting your property. It will make it less attractive to thieves to steal it in the first place as they know that marked property can be easily identified by the police.

In addition, the traceable property may be more difficult for them to 'cash in' with another criminal or to a willing purchaser of the item. Of course it also greatly enhances the chances of you being re-united with the item which is important too.

You can make a real difference in protecting your property by ensuring that you use a UV marker pen to postcode all your valuable items, any other valuable item which has a hard surface. You should also keep a note of the serial number of the item, and note the place where you have written the postcode.

Items can also be registered for free using the website:

https://www.immobilise.com

If you require any further information or advice in relation to property marking, please contact your local Crime Reduction Officer on 101.
