A specially commissioned series of interviews with Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk is to be broadcast this week by LBC.
Titled ‘Politics Unspun’, the series sees Danczuk speak candidly with leading political insiders about some of the big issues that stump mainstream politicians.
Can we stay in Europe and control our borders?
Why have UKIP become such a disruptive force?
Can the working class still get on in life?
These are just some of the questions Mr Danczuk poses to politicians past and present in the final week before Parliament is dissolved.
From a former leading Blairite, to David Cameron's old boss, and a one-time adviser to Ed Miliband, they've given their frank assessments of where it has all gone wrong - and what needs to be done to put it right.
The series starts with Mr Danczuk interviewing Ed Miliband’s former advisor Lord Glasman on why politics needs to reconnect with the working class. Interviews will be broadcast every night this week and also feature Frank Field, Lord Baker, Alan Milburn and Ali Miraj, founder of The Contrarian Prize and one of David Cameron’s first backers to become Conservative leader.
Commenting on the series, Mr Danczuk said it had been a huge privilege to interview such a wide range of experienced politicians that were known to be independently minded and provocative.
“Politics is all too often guilty of following the herd and getting bogged down in Groupthink,” he said. “I’m very much of the view that we need more independent thinkers in politics and I hope that listeners enjoy these lively discussions as much as I did.”
