Nine-year-old Thomas Murray has been surprised by police in Middleton with a birthday present.
Before Thomas left for school on Wednesday (25 March), PSCO Wild and PSCO Grimes from Middleton Police, presented Thomas with four tickets for a day out at Alton Towers.
Thomas and his family were the victims of a burglary in 2014. Their car was stolen and a short time later, they had another car stolen that contained a birthday present for Thomas.
Following the incidents, Thomas was left extremely distressed and struggled to sleep at night. He attended Middleton police station a short time later for a talk with officers and was offered some reassurance and comfort.
After meeting Thomas, PSCO Wild and PSCO Grimes were touched by his story. The pair then made contact with Embrace Child Victims of Crime in an effort to replace the stolen birthday present.
A spokesperson for Middleton Police said: “We hope you enjoy your day out Thomas, and sleep easier at night.”
