Police News – Rochdale East

Inspector Niall Pawson says:  “Our priorities remain tackling burglaries and working closely with victims of domestic abuse offering reassurance and assistance ensuring victims get the best possible help and support.

"The majority of burglaries are happening in the Kirkholt and Wardle areas, so we are asking residents to be extra vigilant and remember to lock all doors and windows.

"Due to particular areas been targeted, we’ve sent out patrols and made sure they are on the streets more frequently to help prevent further damage to the community. This has been proven successful as on the 29 April two males were arrested at 6am and later on in the afternoon another two males were arrested. Thanks to everyone who was involved and special thanks to the police dog who detained one of the males. It’s always good to see the dogs out fighting crime.

"Throughout the next few weeks we are sending your local officers out to gather feedback from yourselves. We are looking at gaining insight into what your community could benefit from, what we are doing right, if not how could we improve and what you want us to keep doing. It’s really important for us to get the survey completed so we would appreciate if you could give us your time."

Recent Arrests

  • A 54-year-old male has been charged with sexual assault and is remanded in custody.
  • A 30-year-old male has been sentenced to four months imprisonment with the offence of burglary.
