Transition Processes
The summer term focus is always preparing students for the next stage of their career at Redwood and transition visits for some students have already started this week as we plan for the September term. Parents and carers will be able to find out more as the term progresses.

Year 9 & Y14 'My Plans' meetings
The Year 9 Education, Health and Social Care review meetings (`My Plans`) commenced this week and will be useful as students start to consider their options at post 16. Thank you to those parents / carers who attended the workshop last week which I hope you found useful as we start a new person centred planning approach to our transition reviews. Also many thanks to Year 14 parents / carers for your input and support in the recent My Plans which heavily focused on post 19 issues and transition.
Theatre Production
Students from across all three key stages took part in an excellent drama production of `Treasure Island` last week. A wonderful and sensory experience was had by all.

Dates to note
The summer term is always busy with a great deal of activities taking place across the school. I would like to highlight the summer term parents consultation sessions which will allow you to find out more about the plans for your son / daughter`s progress and transition for September :
• Friday 3 July: Annual Report to all parents / carers
• Tuesday 7 July: Years 7, 8 & 9 Parents Evening
• Tuesday 14 July: Years 10, 11 and Post 16 Parents Evening

Redwood Short Breaks Provision
A reminder that the after school clubs and youth clubs take place each week for students to attend. For more details please contact school.

KS3
Arthur, Nabila, Allamin and James were chosen as pupils who have done well in something this week, for this they enjoyed a PLAY session in Queens Park. All pupils accessed the facilities and had a great time.
Last week the Head Teacher nominations were Oliver, Sana, Jordan,Warren, Naimen & Connor.

The Lilac group have been enjoying the story ‘Chocolate Mousse for a Greedy Goose’ this week they have been trying the animal’s meals. Callum remembered that the duck said “YUK” to the carrots.

Suzanne run’s our Magic Breakfast club which is offered to all students on a daily basis, she organises the cereals, bagels, milk and juices that are available to us, provided by a government scheme to encourage children to have breakfast.

Year 7 Red pupils have been learning about Spain: they went on a magic carpet ride to Spain and enjoyed time to play on the sandy beach, collect shells and paddle in the sea.

Year 7 Blue have been studying the Election, pupils have been deciding on who to vote for. Harry said “The Green Party, get rid of SATS in year 1 and phonic screening tests, so my brother & sister don’t have to do them”

8/9 Green & Yellow have been conducting a survey on pets; they have found that there are some unusual pets kept by KS3 staff and pupils including a squirrel.
Sue & Julie visited Shawclough primary school to organise a ‘Signing Workshop’

Year 8/9 Yellow made magic wand biscuits and Room on Broom puppets.

7 Green & Blue plus the Inclusion group together with 8/9 Green had the privilege of attending a performance of Treasure Island from the M & M Theatre Company.

KS4
Miss Doggetts’ art group have been studying the work of Eric Carle. Eric Carle wrote the hungry caterpillar. The students had to choose an animal off the internet and then reproduce it in the style of Eric Carle. It was quite a difficult procedure, but the results were stunning.

Some of the students from Key Stage 4 attended a production of ‘Treasure Island’, it was a lovely start to the morning and everyone enjoyed it.

In science the students have been making flowers out of waterproof materials. They are going to put them up outside to make their outside areas look more cheerful.
SSC students made horse sculptures in the style of Nick Mackman.

KS5
Students start the day with a freshly toasted bagel as part of The Magic Breakfast.
Adeel says “Brilliant. I really enjoy it. It tastes magic.”
Patrick says “ Good”
Jordan “They are tasty.”

5 AB went to Touchstones as part of their topic morning on The Community. They looked round the museum and enjoyed using the interactive displays.
Aaron is working at the Loft Café as a catering assistant. Some of the skills he has learnt whilst on his placement are taking out food orders to the customers and preparing tea and coffee for the customers. Aysha is working at Russell’s Piano Café as a catering assistant. Some of the skills she has learnt whilst on her placement are clearing tables and replenishing salt and pepper pots. Maryam is working at EDI Day Services as a catering assistant/support assistant. Some of the skills she has learnt whilst on her placement are supporting service users in different activities and assisting preparing the lunch.

Student of the week
Dexter for working so well in his PHSE lessons when he was talking about his friends and family.

Most Improved Student
Sofia for much improved interaction. Sofia has been engaged in the activities this week, and has been using her voice more in lessons.
