Friends of Springhill Hospice at Home tea party

Date published: 12 May 2015

An annual tea party organised by the Friends of Springhill Hospice at Home group was held today (Tuesday 12 May) at The Peacock Room in The Crimble restaurant.

The event, which is in its seventh year of raising money for the Hospice at Home service provided by Springhill Hospice, included afternoon tea and a raffle.

Rita Bradshaw, Chairwoman of the Friends group, said: “The tickets sold out within a week of me making them available. It is usually a really successful event that we enjoy doing.

“Since it started three years ago, the Hospice at Home service has helped 500 patients with people continuing to pick up the service. That is why we do these types of events.”

Mayor of Rochdale Carol Wardle and Mayoress Beverly Place attended along with 90 guests.

Mayor Carol Wardle said: “Thank you to the Friends of Springhill Hospice Hopsice at Home group for inviting us here today and raising more money for Springhill Hospice – money that is needed badly.

“It has been nice to see so many people volunteering their time to raise funds for charitable causes like this, and helping out at local events like church fairs and fetes. Volunteers are priceless and we couldn’t do the things that we do without you.”

Mayoress Beverley Place added: “Thank you to all of you for your support and promoting all that is good in Rochdale. It has been lovely to meet you during our time in office.”

Money raised at the event will go towards the Hospice at Home service provided by Springhill Hospice. The Hospice at Home service was developed for patients at the end of life who wish to spend their last days at home and provides nursing care for patients and support for their families.

The tea party raised £953 for the Hospice.
