Flood defence works in Hare Hill Park
Date published: 18 May 2015
Planned flood defence works in Hill Hare Park will be discussed at a meeting at Hare Hill House today (Monday 18th May).
The meeting, at 5.30pm, will be followed by a walk around the site with Council representatives and their contractors.
The work involves the excavation of the area that is the football pitch and grading it to provide a flood basin. The work could possibly affect the plan for this year's Rushbearing Festival in July.
A spokesperson for Friends of Hare Hill Parksaid: "When the plans were submitted originally in August, the Council were not aware that this land actually belonged to the park.
"This is our opportunity to ask questions, find out what exactly will be happening and hear about the benefits to the local community. We'll also be able to find out exactly how our park will be affected and for how long."
Anyone wishing to find out more is welcome to attend the meeting and walkabout.
