Refereeing an inter-school football match has led two students from Whitworth Community High School to consider becoming properly qualified.
Four Year 10 students who are taking GCSE PE were involved with refereeing an inter-school competition as part of their exam.
Scott Connelan and Brandon Bull were linesmen while the refereeing was split between Connor Whitworth and Marcus Mangan.
Connor, 15, said: “It was easier than I thought it would be and because it was only seven-a-side it was easier to control.
“I accidentally gave a back pass, which was not the right thing to do, but I learnt that you need to referee a match according to the skills of the players.
“It was good being the person in charge and I might to do my qualifications outside of school so I can referee matches as a job on a weekend.”
Marcus, 14, is also considering undertaking referee training.
