St Andrew's, Dearnley

Date published: 26 May 2015

Bishop Mark will open the Bible Marathon on Saturday, 13 June when, collectively, we will read the entire Bible in one day to mark the 120th anniversary of the opening of our church in Dearnley in 1895.

Volunteers are required to read in 20-minute sessions, starting at 9.00am and hopefully finishing about midnight.

The Bible will be divided into five parts which will be read simultaneously. The entire day is also divided into 20-minute slots and volunteers can choose when they wish to participate and whether they prefer to read from the Old or the New Testaments.

Refreshments will be served throughout the day and any money raised via sponsorship or other means will be donated to Christian Aid.

Volunteers can sign up in the parish room; email michael.howarth@zen.co.uk; or call/text 07977164848.

This coming Trinity Sunday, May 31, we have Sung Eucharist at 9.30am, the parish rota for which is as follows: lay assistants, C Ashton, P Paterson; readers, J Paterson, C Cook; Intercessions, J Mills; sidespersons, J Barker, C Phillips; refreshments, Ada, June, Thelma.

Two advance dates for your diary:
Saturday, June 27, afternoon tea in the parish room (see Susan) Saturday, July 11, Festival Open Day at the Community of the Resurrection in Mirfield

We will travel in cars for the all-day event which starts at 10.30am with a talk on Vocation and closes after Solemn Evensong at 5pm.

Further details to be announced later but now is the time to start signing up in the parish room to confirm your attendance.
