Priorities this week continue to be around supporting vulnerable people and victims of domestic violence and tackling burglaries.

This week we have made a number of arrests for a variety of offences.

Michael Howarth (05/07/1976) of Rochdale has been charged with two burglaries, an attempted burglary and two offences of theft from a motor vehicle following his arrest earlier this week. He was remanded in custody and appeared before Bury and Rochdale Magistrates on 3 June 2015.

Kenneth Ward (22/07/1948) has been charged with drink whilst over prescribed alcohol limit and driving without due care and attention following his arrest on 1 June. He has been bailed to appear before Bury and Rochdale magistrates on 17 July 2015.

Yasmin Ahmed (03/09/1972) has been charged with theft following her arrest on 4 June 2015. She has been bailed to appear at Bury and Rochdale magistrates on 24 July 2015.

An 18-year-old male and five 17-year-old males from Rochdale were arrested earlier this week on suspicion of burglary, following a burglary that took place at a school in Rochdale. All six males have been bailed pending further investigation.

Operation Longford

In the last week our officers took park in Operation Longford, a force wide operation launched to protect the most vulnerable members of the community.

The days of action took place on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 May and saw our police officers and PCSOs carry out visits to care homes, children’s care homes, licenced premises and local takeaways checking all were in order whilst gathering relevant intelligence.

We also carried out Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) patrols, and visited known ASB hotspot areas.

Event at Wardleworth Community Centre 

On Wednesday 3 June our officers took part in an engagement event at Wardleworth Community Centre.

Different agencies were on hand to offer advice on health and wellbeing and personal safety.

PCSO’s Saba Mahmood and Leanne Palmer attended giving crime prevention advice and spoke to the locals about any concerns they had in their local area.
