Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 28 June 2015

The children from Hamer and Marland Hill, together with their partnership young adults from the Sixth Form College delivered their plans and visions for the future of Rochdale at the Town Hall on Wednesday. They were articulate and professional in every sense and the VIP audience of Local Authority Officers was impressed.

The voice of young people is heard in Rochdale and we are delighted to work with Marland Hill and other schools to ensure Hamer is at the heart of such innovation. Well done to all Hamer, Marland and Sixth Form Community Cohesion Ambassadors.

Also the Citizens of the Week for week ending 26 June are the Community Cohesion Group for their fantastic commitment and dedication in their role as part of the Community Cohesion Team.

Thank you to the children, parents, Hamer teachers and teachers from across the IPLCN for a superb showcase of the children’s brilliant work in computing this year. A special thanks to Mr Khan for his innovations and leadership of computing.

The Year 5 children have been out this week to Wardle and Kingsway High Schools in preparation for next years important choices. The staff from both schools praised the way our children represented themselves and the school. Well done Year 5.

Our Year 6’s have all graduated from Bikeability training this week. Even children who had little or no prior experience of riding a bike learnt to do so and also pass road safety awareness standards, all within a week! How amazing! The organisers were again bowled over by the behaviour and attitude of the children. Well done Year 6!!

The year end reports are due out on Friday 10 July. There will be opportunities for parents to follow anything up with class teachers in the week after this, should the need arise.

Thank you to the children from Hamer who applied to be the Rochdale Children’s Champion. In the end, the person voted in to represent children’s voice in Rochdale was Zara Shah from Marland Hill and the Deputy will be Stephanie Webb from St James School.

All at Hamer School send our congratulations to the two representatives who we know will do a great job representing us in Rochdale next year. Well done.
