Co-operatives fortnight sees a spruce-up for the Strand
Date published: 07 July 2015
Local volunteers and RBH employees joined forces on the Strand in Kirkholt on Friday 3 July to mark co-operatives fortnight with a tidy-up and planting. This year’s theme for co-operatives fortnight is 'The Big Co-op Clean'.
The tidy-up team, comprising local residents, volunteers from nearby Q Gardens and RBH employee volunteers, undertook a number of activities including weeding, tidying and replanting the 11 raised beds.
Volunteers from Q Gardens also hosted a lunch event on site on Thursday 2 July, with a good turnout from local residents.
Chris Woodruff, from the RBH Neighbourhood Investment Team, said: “This was a real joint effort between RBH employees and volunteers from Q Gardens. We’re extremely grateful to everyone who gave their time and we hope that it has made a real difference to the local environment for those who live and work in Kirkholt.”
