Kingsway Park High School win silver in Goal Ball
Congratulations to Aleksis Valantins, Billal Iqbal and Amirah Ali from Kingsway Park High School for winning silver in the Goal Ball Event at the Sainsbury's Greater Manchester School Games.
In a sport which requires excellent team work, good sensory awareness and excellent skill, the students showed fantastic ability throughout the whole event showing great determination in every game.
Representing Rochdale as Kingsway Park at the games, they were up against some strong schools and boroughs. They beat Oldham, Ashton, Manchester and Wigan, which then set up a final game for the Gold against Stockport who were a very strong side and beat Rochdale 3-1 to remain undefeated throughout the tournament.
However, despite just missing out on the Gold, the students were fantastic and more than pleased with the silver medals as it was the first time they have competed in a competitive Goal Ball event which was a new sport for them.
