Siddal Moor Sports College Year 5 Taster Days

Date published: 10 July 2015

Primary School pupils in Year 5 from across Heywood and Middleton have enjoyed 2 weeks of Taster days at Siddal Moor Sports College.

Primary school pupils were accompanied by staff from their school to Siddal Moor and enjoyed taking part in lots of different activities which included Food Technology, where students created a fruit salad; Technology where they made rockets that they then launched, ICT where they created “motion tweens” in an animation program, other activities also included Drama, Dance, Physical Education, English and French.

Each Primary school attended on 1 specific day over a two week period and were treated to a typical day in the life of a high school student and even sampled the school dinners.

Feedback from the Year 5 students and the staff who attended was very positive.

The children had a really wonderful time at Siddal Moor and got a glimpse of how it will be when they move up into secondary education.

The event organised by Mel Fawcett the Schools Primary Links Co-Ordinator has been a huge success and he would like to thank all the schools who took part and a big thank to all the teachers and support staff at Siddal Moor who helped out over the 2 week period.
