Smithy Bridge Primary School Rounder’s Team with their silver medals
Smithy Bridge Primary School were amongst a number of schools to take part in the Greater Manchester Summer School games on Tuesday (7 July).
Smithy Bridge Primary School had a successful occasion, earning silver medals in the Rounder’s competition regardless of the adverse weather conditions.
Their fighting spirit to success continued in the p2p Tri-Golf tournament, as a year 4 girl achieved a silver medal as part of the Rochdale team.
Mrs Rose Larder, who arranged the school’s participation in the Games, said: “The children did really well. It was a good day out for all of us and I am proud that we’ve been very successful.”
Despite the downpours of rain throughout the day, the event consisted of 25 competitions in 14 sports categories, located in various venues across Greater Manchester.
The netball team game at Wright Robinson Sports College was unfortunately cancelled as the condition of the weather was deemed too dangerous to continue.
“Unfortunately because of the weather, the netball team match had to be cancelled due to an accident, which was a disappointing result to those who had trained,” added Mrs Larder.
The match will hopefully be rescheduled by Greater Sport.
