St Andrew's, Dearnley

Date published: 14 July 2015

It may seem a long time off, but we hope our regular worshippers and many others in the parish will make a diary note of our church's 120th Anniversary Celebrations over the weekend of September 26 and 27.

We are planning a huge weekend, including a Flower Festival, band concerts and choral Evensong on the Sunday, as well as our Sunday morning Sung Eucharist in which we will reflect upon and give thanks to God for all the parishioners, all the clergy and all the work of the church which has taken place in Dearnley and Smithy Bridge since 1895.

Please keep that weekend free, if at all possible, and come along with family, friends and neighbours to join in our celebrations.

Last Saturday about 20 worshippers from St Andrew's attended the Community of the Resurrection at Mirfield to take part in the many events and services that formed part of their CR Festival (Open) Day.

We were there for the full day and everyone agreed that it was an extremely uplifting and spiritually rewarding experience.

Carolyn is again organising the sale of spring flowering bulbs to raise money for Rochdale Young Carers and their families.

Order forms are available but they need to be returned by July 26 for autumn delivery. Bulbs are sold in small packs at £2 each.

Parish rota for our 9.30am Sung Eucharist on Sunday (July 19) is: lay assistants, S Moore, C Cook; readers, J Halstead, S Moore; Intercessions, R Polley; sidespersons, P Paterson, D Knight; refreshments, Dennis, Pam, Judith.
