REAG to host a conference on ‘Improving Environment in the Borough of Rochdale’

Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG) is hosting a conference on ‘Improving Environment in the Borough of Rochdale’.
The purpose of the conference will be to celebrate the work undertaken by the volunteers to improve the litter and fly tipping, to engage more members of the public, to discuss the way forward with the Environment Service of Rochdale Council and other groups in the borough.
Representatives from Rochdale Council, Keep Britain Tidy, Greater Manchester Waste Management Authority, Councillors, and local Environmental Groups in the Borough, businesses and members of the community will attend.
Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE, Secretary, said: “REAG are pleased to say that there has been improvement in the environment of the Borough particularly the flowers placed in the middle and both sides of Manchester Road and other roads.
“We'll be working with Rochdale Borough Council to improve the food recycling scheme and raising more awareness about the importance of the clean and green environment of the Borough
“The Borough of Rochdale is a beautiful place and we can make it even more beautiful. It has rich history and prominent people who put the name of Rochdale on the top of the world's agenda."
The conference will be held on Saturday 19 September, 2015, from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm at Castlemere Community Centre, Tweedale Street, Rochdale.
