Concern that homes won’t be ready for new waste collection service
Date published: 05 October 2015
With news that the new three weekly waste collection service will begin on 20 October in Middleton, some residents are concerned that homes won’t be ready in time.
A number of residents say they have not yet received their new caddy that is to be used to collect food waste. Some residents have contacted the council about this and have been told that “caddies are prioritised”.
Other residents are concerned that they don’t even know when exactly the changes come into effect.
Martin Taylor, Head of Environmental Services at Rochdale Borough Council said: “The council is working hard in preparation for the new service and is already delivering brown food and garden recycling bins.
“Everyone will have a brown street caddy or brown bin in time for when the new service starts in their area."
