Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk
I’m in favour of the devolution plans for Greater Manchester. This is a great opportunity for local communities to shape their own futures and boost economic growth. But with that opportunity comes the risk that Rochdale could be marginalised in favour of Manchester.
The Government’s ‘Northern Powerhouse’ agenda can’t just be about investing in the bigger cities, it is vital that the smaller towns of Great Manchester are seen as an equal partners in decision making.
I will be working hard to ensure Rochdale plays a major part in the devolved Greater Manchester.
