Visit to Greater Manchester Museum of Transport

Year 2 visited the Greater Manchester Museum of Transport.

This fitted in with their topic ‘The Changes in Transport Within Living Memory’.

The children saw a collection of different forms of transport which spans over 100 years from a 1890s horse bus to a full size prototype Metro link tram.

The children participated in a tour of the museum where they were able to get on some of the buses and take note of the differences between them.

The most significant changes they noted were the differences in roof height, the material of the seats and where the stairs and engine was placed on the vehicle.

The children also got to sit in the driver’s seat and see what it was like to steer and change gears.

They really enjoyed the trip and are very enthusiastic to work through the activity packs in our topics lessons in the coming weeks.

The second match of the season for the Beech House under15 football team was played away from home against Matthew Moss. In spite of valiant efforts the final score was 2:7
