Heywood Christmas lights switch on

The Heywood Christmas lights switch on event took place on Saturday getting the town ready for the upcoming festive period.
A variety of activities and a huge parade took place before the official switch on.
A Christmas Market was located outside of Heywood Civic Centre and Hill Street Car Park was full of stalls for people to stock up on Christmas treats and goodies.
Children were entertained on the miniature railway, vintage carousel, by watching a punch and Judy show and taking part in fun and games throughout the afternoon. Children could also meet Elsa, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Spiderman and Batman as well as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Peppa Pig.
St Luke’s Church played host to a Christmas concert featuring lots of local talent, whilst Mike Goldrick Window Blinds and Tilly’s Tea Room supplied Victorian entertainment from Monkey and the Organ Grinder Juggling Jim as well as an appearance from the Salvation Army Brass Band.
Father Christmas made an appearance at the Santa’s Grotto in the Magic Market.
The event was organised by Heywood Business Group in conjunction with Heywood Township.
