RSPCA tree of remembrance and coffee morning

Date published: 30 November 2015

The Christmas Coffee morning at the RSPCA Centre at Redcross Street was very successful on Saturday 28 November and made £259.

Stalls included handmade cards, RSPCA Christmas cards and diaries, Christmas gift ideas for family and pets, tombola, raffle, guess the weight of the cake, name the teddy.

The Reverend Karen Smeeton, from St Clements Church, Rochdale, turned on the lights of the Tree of Remembrance.

Remembrance tags were available to hang on the tree.

Shirley Mellor said: “The service and the blessing by Rev Karen Smeeton was very moving.

“People can still hang a gift tag on the tree any time during December by calling into our animal centre.

“The staff hung a tag on for Diesel, the dog that lost her life in the Paris terror attacks.

“We couldn't hold days like this without the continued support of some of our fabulous volunteers and we'd like to say a special thanks to Margaret who made lots of cups of tea during the day.”
